A gifted climber and a tireless globetrotter, Nicolas stands out for his big wall ascents in a pure trad style and for the films he has made of his adventures. In 2011 he won a Piolet d’Or with his brother Olivier, Ben Ditto and Sean Villanueva for their expedition to Greenland.

For me, challenging myself on an ascent is just a way of being connected to nature.

After having attended the University of Freyr (the mecca of climbing in Belgium) where he learned and perfected his "old school", "low angle" and "sandbagged" climbing technique. And then his climbing world was revealed a lot more when Nico and Sean Villanueva went to Yosemite. There, he discovered his real appeal: trad, big wall, being a "dirt bag" and playing music in the walls.

Since then, Nico has traveled the world in search of his holy grail: virgin big walls! "For me, challenging myself in climbing is a way to connect with nature, climbing brings me to beautiful places, it inspires me to push my limits in climbing but also in music, which gives me a unique sense of connection. ”
